[Harp-L] Counterpoint

I got turned on to early ( late 1930's) recordings of Ella Fitzgerald with the Chick Webb Orchestra when I did a few gigs with Bloepheous.
The horn lines back and forth are sublime.
It gives me a lot of inspiration and ideas.

Hello, William.

Counterpoint is a music compositional device, not a harmonica
 technique.

Also known as "polyphony," it may be used in any music style or
 historical
period.

Counterpoint is two or more melodies being played at the same time.

Smojoe (Joe Leone) and Vern Smith have given excellent descriptions and

examples of counterpoint.

Let's not forget Dixieland music. It's loaded with counterpoint,
  occasionaly
going into 3 or more melodies simultaneously.

Mozart, Beethoven, Lois Armstrong, the Harmonicats, many others were
  masters
of counterpoint.
