Re: [Harp-L] any good solo pieces

Boy, reading the posts answering Joe's question, I feel like a real old fogey. Solo harp? I immediately think:
De Ford Bailey, Palmer McAbee, Gwen Foster, Kyle Wooten, Blues Birdhead, Rhythm Willie; here's a good source for at least some of this stuff:

Also, for the brilliant Rhythm Willies tracks (four trax only - but worth it!)

I suppose I'm assuming Joe Glover is a young bloke on the early learning curve, so I'm recommending 'old masters' here. Not only are these great players, but they are part of a vanished world, where music was deeply embedded in and emanated from the culture of time and place, and had a poetry to it that is usually absent in modern recordings. Of course...I may just be a sentimental fool.... intoxicated by the mysteries of time....

Then again, is it just the blues you're after Joe? Let's not forget our own home-grown masters, particularly P.C.Spouse; not a bent note in sight, but a hell of a player of jigs 'n' reels etc.:
