Re: [Harp-L] unaccompanied harp

Interesting thread. So interesting, in fact, that I stopped the recording
session I'm supposed to be working on and recorded my three favorite solo
pieces since I already had the gear running. I've encoded 'em as mp3
files and put them on my website server where they'll stay for a couple of
days. They are "Tuxedo Junction" by Glenn Miller and a couple of brief
classical pieces, by (I think) Bach and Haydn. All performed on a Golden
Melody in "C".

Quick disclaimer: these are all first or second takes, done on the spur
of the moment and have had no editing or tweaking other than snipping out
a few cuss words.

I've also been using a piece I wrote and performed this summer as musical
director for the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival called "Mistress Mine."
It's from "The Twelfth Night," words obviously by Mr. Shakespeare, singing
and harp playing done by me in this songwriter's demo. I overdubbed my
vocals in this version (there was an actor singing the part onstage while
I came on to play harp), but I've since discovered that by singing through
the harmonica I could manage to keep a harp rhythm and the vocal line
going and I've since played this on a number of solo gigs at bars and
restaurants. Written in 1601, truer words were never uttered.
