any scale will have modes - most can be labeled w"musician speak" -  theory 
words, etc. You don't need to memorize the theory/words to gain an  
understanding of the sound. Just start to immerse yourself in the sound of the  notes as 
they stand alone and also as they are suspended over a harmonic  reference - 
sustained bass note, bass note w/chord - whatever.
 
mode would be the same sequence of notes that define the scale - just start  
on a scale degree that is not the first one of the scale. Each degree can be  
defined, in a sense, as a mode of that scale.
