Re: [Harp-L] being treated to Blues Traveler

Mostly second position with occasional first or third or "other", mostly pucker with occasional octave or other split interval. Highly improvisational and does not repeat previous solos (though you may not be able to tell at the speeds he uses). He does most of the singing in BT, so probably little in the way of fills around vocals. Don't remember his cup, but he tends to use highly modified microphones unlike anything seen in blues circles.

I'm being treated to a Blues Traveler show tomorrow night.  I'm not
particularly familiar with John Popper.  I don't want to start a "beat
up on Popper thread," so am not asking for opinions, but I am wondering if
anyone has some ideas of how he plays -- I know he plays lots of notes and on
the high end of the harp and that he is a rocker not a trad. blues player.
Does he play in second position mostly/exclusively/not at all?
Pucker/TB/mix?  Does he tight cup or loose cup?  Does he mostly play solos or
does he also play fills between vocal lines?  Does he improvise solos or does
he play what's on his records?  I'm just looking to be a bit prepped
for the show.  What should I excpect/be looking for as a harp player?
Thanks!!
