Re: [Harp-L] High end tongue block bending

Tony -

Sorry not to have replied to your earlier similar query.

Look in the harp-l archives for the last four to six weeks; the topic of high blow bends was discussed, and I think tongue blocking was part of it.

Briefly, yes, you can tongue block high blow bends. Start with a very low pitched harp, as this helps bring the pitches (and the required mouth cavity volumes and shapes) closer to what is already familiar.

Gidday,
I have spoken to a couple of people already about this and yet I would like
to put it up to the list. I can tongue block bend the draw notes on the
harp, and would really like to be able to do the top end too. I get the
feeling that if I practice heaps I may be able to get it to happen, but what
I want to know is, can I get a bent note intro into a straight blow note on
the top end.....a Twa, or doink (Jim Conway's word) ????
Any suggestions to master this would be appreciated. Dennis G,,,,,you out
there????

P.S. If anyone believes it is not worth the time and effort for the gain,
let me know that too.
