[Harp-L] Reed testing

>From an engineering point of view what you suggest: an objective reed
testing rig seems quite feasible and should not be outrageously expensive.
It should be well within the resources of Hohner, Seydel or - Susuki? who
could maybe sponsor some mechanical engineering post grad with a taste for
the harp to design and build it for fun and profit.
The trickiest part would be the design and construction of the two synthetic
oral cavities (representing 5 Draw bend and 7 Blow bend respectively - a
Dental Mechanic might be handy!)which would then be each hooked up to one
channel of a harmonica with two purpose made one hole reed plates for the
two complementary reeds required to produce the bend. The reed plates could
have drilled and tapped holes for easy reed replacement. Then all that is
required is two variable speed fans of suitable duty and let the howling
commence!
