[Harp-L] The legend speaks on Hohner production in Germany

My German is not as good as it was 10 years ago, so I read, very, very slowly... so I read maybe four percent the German Harpchat posts to improve my German. But, By God, when Steve Baker posts something on Harpchat, I read. Same thing with Rick Epping and Rupert Oysler on Harp - L, when they say something, it's a rare treat and it means something.
Steve Baker had a really interesting post on Harpchat today about how much Hohner production is in Europe vs. China.
Steve wrote his post in German, I translated it as best I could. I know we have a lot of folks on this list who sprechen und lesen the Deutsch and if I've made any critical errors in translation, please correct me. Steve's original post in German is at the bottom:
O.K. From Steve, translated by me.
"I write today as Hohner coworker and wanted describe briefly the "Made in Germany" situation. By no means is it the case that the entire Hohner harmonica production was shifted to China. The actual situation is different. Thhe reeds and reedplates are manufactured in Germany. The same also applies to combs, covers and the mouthpiece, slides and valves of the Chromonica.
With some models/keys (partly Richter MS and Richter Classic) the assembly of the reedplates and tuning is done in China. Otherwise, (i.e. Marine Band Deluxe, most Chromonicas and the XB40) are assembled in Trossingen. Most Tremelo and Octave models are assembled in the Czech Republic. In principle, the final assembly as well as final inspection for all models takes place in Trossingen. Exceptions to this rule are the Hohner International (i.e. Silver Star, Big Valley) as well as the beginner-model Chrometta (with reeds and reedplates from Germany), which is installed completely in the Far East.
I hope I have brought a little clarity to this jungle of speculation.
Greetings.

Hi Chat,

"Made in Germany" erläutern.

China statt, andere dagegen (z.B.
grundsätzlich in Trossingen statt.

Steve Baker
