they contain any new ideas" is exactly my performance attitude and it is very  
liberating. "Performance anxiety" is totally eliminated. In your case, you 
may  want your "practice" mode to morph more into your standard "performance" 
mode. 
 
This can work either way.
 
So, in a round about way, what I am describing is making practice become  
performance/performance become practice. Important point is to eliminate a  
divisiveness (I guess I'm always looking to be a divisiveness buster) and make  
them both the same thing.
