[Harp-L] Re; Harp mics

Mark - the Fireball has reasonably high output AND pretty good feedback rejection, but there are a couple of very important variables. First, mics simply differ in output - even among those with the same element in them. The output of crystal mics, for example, drops with age until they are no longer playable. So... you should dial your amp to each mic independently. It doesn't matter so much what number the volumeknob is pointing to when you're done - only that you're happy with the sound and level. Second, the Fireball is a low impedance mic. Therefore you should be using an impedance matching transformer to plug into your Blues Jr. Different impedance matching transformers will have (get this!) different impedances - so some will have higher output than others.

I recently picked up an Audix Fireball V. This mic seems to be too hot. I have to turn down my master and the volume. Or it will feed back, creates a "hum" I've never heard through my speakers before. Could it just be my Blues Jr. amp? I'll have to try it on another amp first. Anyone have troubles with their fireballs?
