Indeed. Best to introduce yourself early, exchange pleasantries ("two people working together on the same job site"). Then you know that persons name and can use it rather than saying "Hey soundman" (or hey soundwoman). If the communication isn't working, if direction is ignored, misunderstood or acted upon with brutal hamfistedness rather than nimble incrementalism, best to cut your losses and just smile rather than confuse the issue further. That way you keep them on your side as Mr. Walden mentions and you are not contributing to their further muddling/meddling.
