Re: [Harp-L] Automatic/Hydromatic?

Hi Sean and All

That's probably Joe Hill Louis' 'Hydramatic Woman', I think cut in Memphis in 1954. It's listed in my old blues discography as 'Hydromatic Woman', and he definitely sings the words ... "automatic woman ..." The liner notes on the Muskadine LP I first heard it on say that it was originally cut by Sam Philips as 'Automatic Woman'. They may have changed the title to tie in with the Oldsmobile theme they had started with 'Rocket 88' - sounds very similar. And no harp BTW, but a pretty knarly guitar sound. You can get it on the Bear Family CD 'Joe Hill Louis -The Bee Bop Boy' BCD 15524-AH.

Cheers,
Staggerin' Jim

Subject: [Harp-L] Automatic/Hydromatic?

Evening, folk on the list,
I posted this question some time last year and got an answer but have since fogged over and can't recollect what it was.
I am trying to find out the name of the tune and perhaps the artist which was like a precursor to The Red Devil's "Automatic".
It may have had some harp in it and I believe it was called Hydromatic ?? There again maybe I have been watching "Grease" too often!
Appreciate any tips.
Regards. Sean.
