[Harp-L] Why Brendan Why?

Brendan Power siad:
Hello Everyone, I'm pleased to announce that from May 1st I have been
engaged by Suzuki Musical Inst. Mfg. Co. Ltd. as their Harmonica
Specialist.....

One of the main briefs of the job is to make myself available to online
harp discussion groups to respond to anything concerning Suzuki
harmonicas of all types.

I say you couldn't pay me enough to do that job. OK you want to field Suzuki questions? Why the heck are you marketing ultra high priced harmonicas with wood combs. Every other manufacturer seems to be able to come up with a wood comb harp that sells for about the same price as their plastic combed harps. Hohner, Hering, and Seydel let you pick and choose your comb material. Why don't you market some other tunings, like Natural Minor and/or Melody Makers instead. Hohner and Lee Oskar have those available at no extra charge. The Japanese love Natural Minors. What is the deal? Seydel sells them at a reasonable premium, as well as every other tuning you can imagine. Hohner, and Hering give you a choice of Equal Temperament or Just Intonation. I'm sure Seydel would give you Equal Temperament if you asked for it. Seydel will sell you anything you want at a reasonable premium. Of course we can all break out a file and do these things ourselves. I just don't
understand the marketing logic of selling high priced wood combs as the first expansion of the Suzuki product line.

OK I love your HarpMaster's and BluesMaster's sound, and I like the volume I can get out of a ProMaster. Why not alternate tunings and comb material for these models?
