It's a C diatonic pitched an octave below the regular C. 

In the US this was (and is) either the 12-hole Marine Band 364 or the
14-hole Marine Band 365.

In the UK (where Sonny Boy visited during this period, where he is
known to have acquired and was photographed playing these models) the
364 Marine Band was known as the Echo Vamper.
