Well Mike you have me deep in contemplation and believe it or not
the first song I thought of was Louie Louie (you may laugh at will) I was in a
band that booked ourselves 4 decades of R & R and ended up playing harp on
some old stuff like You Give Me Money, we started it with kick drum and me
playing a lead with a D harp, the whistle part of Dock Of the Bay with fills all
through it, I even played harp on Wipe Out for giggles (don't know what I
was drinkin' that night) all kinds of stuff. In other bands I did harp on
Dreams, Cocaine, That George Clinton song that everybody does, Herbie
Hancock's...I can't remember the names of these songs, Hank Jr's All My Rowdy Friends
(managed to most of the licks from Whammer Jammer on it) Black
Sheep..........harp on so many country songs I can't remember. My own bands I've done funk
versions of Mustang Sally, Jingo by Santana, Ready for Love,...........as you
can see I'm an old so and so but suffice to say nobody ever told me "that
doesn't work" when I wanted to play harp in something as long as I worked it out
and stayed within the root notes. You go brother, it sounds like you are in a
very cool band that you can play harp at will in. GET DOWN WILLIE
Randy PS now I have that Herbie Hancock song and Louie
Louie intertwined in my head, I think you could play both of them at the same
time. LOL They're in the key of G

Little Wing got me thinking...Here are a few of my
favorite tunes we've been covering that aren't you
typical harmonica or blues songs. I know some of you
never play any harp specific songs, but I thought it
would be cool to read what "pop" tunes you guys have
been doing (there might be some jazz on this list
too). Here is my partial list.
