Re: [Harp-L] volume control

Me either.
I guess those folks whose tone is so severely impacted by a volume control really do need to practice more. ;-)
99% of the time, the flick of your little finger is a lot faster and simpler when you hear the feedback start to rise, as opposed to stopping playing, turning around and adjusting the volume on the amp.
And I don't think 99.999% of the audiences out there really care about the difference a volume control makes in a mic's tone anymore than they care if your comb is plastic or pearwood. What they do care about is whether you are up there performing or constantly turning around fiddling with your amp.
From my perspective, the way that rooms vary, electrical systems vary, amp placements vary and the location of bodies vary, a volume control makes the most most sense.

Just my $0.02.

Well of course. Why do the non-VC-types make this a "volume control vs. technique" issue. YOU CAN HAVE BOTH.

i've never understood the "suck it up and practice harder" points of view.
assuming the volume control doesn't change your tone, why would you
*not* want to have some additional control? you wouldn't buy an amp without one.
