Re: [Harp-L] wanna be

Bobbie,

Thank You so much for the kind words I'm proud to be able to get out and front what some consider 'oldies' shows!!!!,-)))

Anyway, I should just point out that YES, what I do is in tribute to the late John Belushi, however, this is NOT a Tribute Band.
Dan Ackroyd and the Belushi Estate own the name of our band which is:

The Original Blues Brothers BAND
(Dan Ackroyd only appears with us on special occassion and he does gigs with Jim Belushi and they Rightfully call themselves The Blues Brothers)

WE however are what's left from the ORIGINAL BAND that played on SNL, & The Blues Brothers Recordings and appeared in both Movies.
My Job is pretty much to fill the roles of Ackroyd & Belushi as one Blues Brother that fronts the band. with special guest:
Eddie "Knock on Wood" Floyd. Matt "Guitar" Murphy can no longer tour with us for Health reasons so we are down to 3 Original Members.

The Band these days is:

Steve "The Colonel" Cropper - Guitar (Leader) (Original Member)
"Blue Lou" Marini - Saxophone (Original Member)
Alan "Mr. Fabulous" Rubin - Trumpet (Original Member)
Leon "The Lion" Pendarvis - Organ (SNL Musical Director)
Eric "The Red" Udell -Bass (Duck Dunn only does occassional gigs from time to time)
"Smokin" John Tropea -Guitar (took over for Matt Murphy)
Larry "Dogbone" Farrell-Trombone
Lee Finkelstein-Drums
Rob Paparozzi- Vocals & Harmonica
Eddie Floyd-Special Guest Vocals

I grow up learning of of Eddie Floyd's & Steve Cropper's records so it's quite an honor to share a stage with these guys!

Now, since were on the subject, I guess I should clear up what my role is in another band I work with:

Blood, Sweat & Tears

This also is not a TRIBUTE, it is what is REMAINS of the touring band. The Original Drummer Bobby Columby owns the name and sends us out to tour under this name.
The band is made up of the musicians that have been out on the road since the 80's with David Clayton Thomas, David took over the lead Vox chair when the Original Al Kooper left around
69-70 to form Super Session etc.

I played Harmonica on 3 of David Clayton's SOLO projects. Last year when Clayton went back to Canada to start his own project, I was asked to join
'Blood Sweat and Tears' and replace David Clayton Thomas.

I'm havin' a blast doin' both bands and I'm always trying to work in MORE HARP when I can finnagel it, this band had some BIG hits back in the day!

As YOU know, What I enjoy doing most is MY band "The Hudson River Rats"...but hey BILLS must be paid!!!!,-)

Love & Peace,
Rob Paparozzi

So far it's been true, for instance... 'Tribute Bands' can be great
nostalgic entertainment for many people, but they have never achieved
the quality, essence and popularity of the 'real deal'. Does that
mean, however, that members of such bands are all 'wannabes'?? Not
at all... look no further than Rob Paparozzi, a harmonica player and
singer who's performed on a regular basis in a Blues Brothers tribute
band... truly no wannabe there, and in fact, is himself probably well
on the way to becoming the object of many wannabes! I know I sure
wish *I* had the talent he's got!!
