[Harp-L] re: Shaker microphone

I have the dynamic Shaker. It was my first serious purchase of a harp mike. Volume control knob was in the way, removed the knurled knob and turn the post for volume control. Very poor low end note pick up. Feeds back before volume. Let a harp player try it at a gig one night. He gave it back and said no low end, then he plugged in his old beat up Green Bullet and kept playing. (I don't like green bullet sound either, to grainy) Compared my dynamic with a friends Shaker dynamic. His had better bottom end but still not good. (quality control?) Then I discovered dynamic Shure's and E.V.'s. The Shaker is strong though. Drops do not phase it and for some peculiar reason sounds nice playing a 270 Hohner. It could be a back-up mic if played low volume or with a sound board to help it out. That's my take on it. harp luvr Ed
