Zoom has just released the H4. Records uncompressed WAV files (24 bit, up to 96 kHz bit) or MP3s on digital media cards (up to 2 GB for 380 minutes WAV recording, 34 hours MP3). Has built in stereo condensor mics for live stereo recording. Will record in stereo, and also has a 4-track recording mode. Has built in effects too: amp modeling, compression, reverb, etc. Also includes a USB connector for uploading/downloading files to your PC; it can even function as an audio interface for recording to your PC -- the thing has two combination 1/4 inch/XLR mic inputs with +48v phantom power, so it will work with high-quality dynamic and condenser recording mics.

Unlike Zoom's PS04, which is also a very nice little box that does 4-track recording, it does not include a drum machine and bass line generator. But the audio quality is much better than the PS04. And the PS04 will not replace the soundcard in your computer for audio recording.

I haven't tested one of these, but on the specs alone it's a very interesting buy at about $300 retail. A 4-track studio complete with phantom powered mic inputs in your pocket for 3 bills? Wow.
