The reason this would happen is if ithe auxiliary reed for hole 2 blow is
tuned a wholetone lower than the regular reed, and the auxiliary for hole 5
blow is tuned a minor third below than the regular reed.

Exactly. The aux reeds on holes 5 and 8 have been sharpened about half a tone, and the aux reed in whole 2 has been left as is, probably due to the wishes of the player. That is, if the charts at http://overblow.com/?menuid=26&type=xb40# correspond to the tuning being discussed here. And I guess it's the opposite of what Rick D. wrote, holes 5 and 8 bend half a tone, and hole 2 one whole tone. Cheers, Fernando
