It's funny, but when you lay down some hard earned $$ towards lessons, the investment in money seems to help inspire one to follow through and practice.

I can attest that having a teacher will make you practice more.  I had a 
lesson with Jason Ricci a couple of weeks ago and have been practicing a lot 
more since then.  It's hard for me to find time because of grad school and 
the fact that I can't play at night in my apartment (too many neighbors), 
but I am trying to fit in at least ten or fifteen minutes a day to work on 
scales and nailing those 3-hole bends.  At the end, I choose a style 
(lately, jazz) and play whatever I want for as long as I can keep up my 
breath or stand to hear myself.
