[Harp-L] Second Santa Blues of Tenerife. Canary Islands.

Second Santa Blues of Tenerife Festival takes place from June 9 until June 30.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Tenerife's capital once more will be filled with the blues, this time during the month of June, eight months after the first Santa Blues Festival which took place in October.

The second Santa Blues de Tenerife Festival will once again take place at the Calle La Noria (Santa Cruz), and also at the Plaza del Príncipe. This time master classes and workshops will take place at the Auditorium of Tenerife for all those wishing to learn the blues language with the harmonica and the piano.
The Festival is sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Tenerife and Santa Cruz's Town Hall; as well as some private beer companies and other brands.
The ambitious programme designed this year by the Canary producers MAKARON present two American bands and two British bands, joined by six Canary groups.
The Festival commences on June 9 with the performance of Marcelo & Hot'n Blue in Calle La Noria. The band lead by Uruguayan Marcelo Berot will be followed by Ike Turner & The Kings of Rhythm. Ike Turner turns 75 this year, yet he has sprung back into the music ring with unexpected energy, after years of silence which nobody expected him to break. Ike has already been immortalised at the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame. He has fused blues with country, R&B and jazz in his new CD and this promises to be a night to remember.
Blues lovers are welcome to a free master class of harmonica at the Auditorium of Tenerife on June 14, given by Joan Pau Cumellas.
On June 16 Calle La Noria will host the performance of local band Blues Lee, followed by American blues singer Nora Jean Bruso. Nora was born in Greenwood, Mississippi. Her father, Bobby Lee Wallace was a professional singer who influenced his daughter throughout her childhood and for the rest of her life. Another great musical influence for Nora was gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, who she met in 1969. It was in Chicago that Nora became established in the musical world, and during the 1980s she was the queen of the blues in that city, which followed successful tours throughout the U.S. and Europe. In 1991 she decided to retire from the stage to take care of her children, returning to the stage in 2002.
On June 22 two Canary groups will perform at the Plaza del Príncipe; Zapping Group and The Sugar Hill band. On June 23 the Las Palmas group United will perform before the Albie Donnelly Supercharge band. This group was born in Liverpool (U.K), became famous in Australia and for years played for the rich and famous in private celebrations. They also performed as a support band for the famous rock band Queen.
On June 28 a conference given by pianist Lluis Coloma will take place at the Auditorium of Tenerife. June 29 will host the Canary groups Anosma and 4 de Octubre Band at Plaza del Príncipe, and to end the Festival on June 30 we will be able to enjoy the performances of Canary band Los Celebros and the duel of harmonicas of Paul Lamb and Keith Dunn, accompanied by The King Snakes.
