Re: [Harp-L] Recording tips

You're very welcome, Paul, and thanks for the kind words. Actually we were in Scotland 3 weeks ago and we'll be back on your side of the pond next week at the Stamford Guitar Festival. But alas, neither are in the NW. Feel free to contact me off-list and we can discuss it further (in light of all the recent controversy surrounding gig posts, I don't want to have to wear a dunce cap and sit in the corner.) <g>

But back to your subject: I'll be curious myself to read any replies to the part of your question regarding GarageBand for Mac. My Mac also has that program built in, but I don't have a clue what to do with it...

cheers eenoo,
TB

Thanks Tom.
When are you going to come and play in the North West UK?
Soon I hope. You have a lot of fans up here.

I plan to go into the studio this year and record some tracks. I also plan to do some acoustic stuff at home using the Apple (Mac) GarageBand software to record it.

If anybody has any tips on mic placements, recording tips, pre / post effects, etc, that they could pass onto me I would be grateful.

Hi Paul,

Lots of good advice on recording the harmonica can be found in the 2002 article "The Taming of the Shrill." Highly recommended reading for any acoustic harp player looking to record. Here's the link: http://emusician.com/tutorials/emusic_taming_shrill/

cheers and good luck,
