RE: [Harp-L] Re: how much do you get paid for a gig?

Referring to Robert Bonfiglio's $6-8,000 a performance fee:

Garry Hodgson added:
not really obscene at all. he's being paid for his talent, and for what he
brings to the music. and if you factor in all the time he's spent attaining
and maintaining that level of play, it starts to look like they're getting
quite a bargain.
---Both Chris and Garry make good points. Robert Bonfiglio has a Master's degree in composition from the Mannes School of Music, where he studied with Araon Copeland. He also has studied extensively with Chamber Huang and the first chair flutist [can't remember the gentleman's name] of the New York Ballet Company...Bonfiglio practiced a MINIMUM of four hours a day for many years, and eight hours a day for a number of those years.
There's a story about one of the great classical virtuosos: after a concert, a man who had heard the concert said to him, " I would give everything to play like you do."
The virtuoso replied, " Sir, I did."
Robert Bonfiglio deserves very penny.
