[Harp-L] Sam Myers service details



Hey Everyone,
i just got back from the Funeral home. Anson and myself and Rene and Joanna 
Iz got all the details taken care of for the funeral. Sam will be buried in 
Mississippi where his Mom and Dad are buried(they both passed in the last year). 
The details for the Mississippi funeral and burial will be forthcoming. There 
will be a service somewhere in Jackson, Mississippi,  and then a graveside 
service which will probably take place next monday. I will get these details out 
as soon as they become known. There will be services for Sam Myers in 
Dallas,Tx; where he has resided for the past twenty years. The services will be held 
at the Sandra Clark Funeral Home(6029 south R. L. Thornton freeway ph- 
214-371-2600). There will be a visitation on thursday evening, July 17th from 6pm 
until 9pm, and the funeral service will be on friday, July 18th at 11am. Please 
everyone, pass this information on to others.
Sam Was born in Laurel, Mississippi on February 19th, 1936. He left this 
world on July 17th, 2006 at 10:54 am central time. Sam himself said that when he 
was born was when he came into the music business. Over his more than 50 year 
career in the music business Sam has won 10 W. C. Handy awards(along with Anson 
Funderburgh and the Rockets), along with other numerous awards and 
achievements. Sam was a drummer with the great Elmore James who also hailed from 
Jackson, Mississippi. While playing with Elmore, he got a chance to do his first solo 
recordings for the Jackson Ace record label His song 'Sleeping in the Ground 
has been recorded by Eric Clapton(Blind Faith), Canned Heat, and Robert Cray. 
Sam has many fans worldwide, and to all of you, I say thanks for enjoying 
Sam's music and please keep Sam's family in your prayers.
