[Harp-L] Summertime Video Clip by The Iceman

Just a quick comment here concerning alternate tuning harps etc:

Howard Levy has always said that, if you use an alternate-tuning harp,
you've still got the same problem . . . In his mind, you still have to find
a way to play the notes that aren't easily gettable (from whatever alternate
tuning you're using) . . . So, in his mind and teaching, he decided to stick
with the Richter tuning, and deal with it from that perspective . . .

Now . . . that being said, using the "Country" tuning to play Irish or
Bluegrass, or minor key harps (we all know that Richard Hunter is a great
proponent of minor tuned harps, and plays them beautifully and very
effectively, are all great approaches that sound great . . . Different
strokes for different folks; (and so on and so on and Scooby dooby doo) . .
.

Thanks to all who emailed compliments on and off-list.

To answer the question and suggestions of using a minor tuned harmonica to
play this song, I choose not to use any special tuned harmonicas in order to
realize my vision of moving all notes created on the regular diatonic
harmonica into equality.

The very fact that so many of you couldn't tell that "Summertime" was played
in 2nd position lets me know that my notes created through bending
techniques (including OB) are becoming seamless.

I don't think position playing on the harmonica anymore, but rather play the
notes wherever they exist. This way, the harmonicwill sound less
"harmonica-eey" and allows venturing into some very interesting territories.
