hey tommy,

i could be wrong about this, but i think that back
when walter was first making records, they were all
singles with B-sides. they didn't have albums back
then. so basically, if you can find yourself a box set
or a best of, you'll get his early stuff. i can try to
look up his first singles for ya... well, according to
the biography, his first recordings under his own name
were "I Just Keep Lovin Her" (for Unis and then
Parkway records?), "Moonshine Blues", "Muskadine
Blues", "Bad Acting Woman". those were all prior to
1951. Then, in '52, he recorded "Juke" (hell of a way
to "start" a career) and "Can't Hold Out Much Longer",
then "Blue Midnight", "Boogie", "Mean Old World", and
"Sad Hours."
then he really took off (recording-wise) from there.
of course, lots of recordings were al takes. not sure
how many were released or what is still available.
