[Harp-L] Customizing Harp Process

I am not yet a customizing expert, so....Before removing the reed plates, i  
mark both blow and draw with a magic marker.  I also mark holes 4, 5, and 6  
with a dot and hole 7 with a slash, so i can zero in on specific reeds more  
quickly.  I also wear my best power reading glasses for this  particular job 
(one power magnification more than my reading  glasses).  In addition to my 
eyeglasses, i use a magnifying glass,  but wish i had one of those desk lights with 
the magnifier built in.   Anyone know where they are available online?
  Why sand both sides of the comb?  I'd be afraid to damage or  alter reed 
tunings.
