[Harp-L] Caps

Just to be clear, I understand financial concerns and why some may need to
go a reissue route, so will do what I can to help. I just stepped out of the
reissue arena, modding, etc., as last year I had at least 5 excellent sounding
amps, reissues, concerts, whatever, pricing from $100 - $1500 fully done,
point to point kit on one, and Every person that came by to test them ended up
buying the 410. Their logic was it will always have value, even if one of the
modded ones sounded close, was never an option for them, they all bought a
410. So I stopped trying to fit into a price range. There are 9 coupling (tone)
caps where I use paper in oil, on a reissue they will usually be orange
drops. Many bassman clone builders will also use Mallories, same difference. In
this particular amp caps make a big difference. There are new paper foil caps
like Jensen, Sozo, I happen to have military grade ( higher quality ) NOS
from the late 50's and early 60's, not one has had a smidge of leakage due to
glass casing it has been sealed in. Orange drops, yellow astrons, are just
pieces of metal polyesther with two wires coming out of them. Read a description
of a Vitamin Q, will give you an idea of what we use. 110 extremely happy
owners can't be that far off, and every one has owned tons of amps or has tried
them. Good luck, will be happy to help.
