[Harp-L] sugar ray and the bluetones

was fortunate enough to see sugar ray and the bluetones saturday evening
at the boxcar in westport,ct. if you have'nt heard ray lately and you
have the chance, get out and see these guys. mudcat ward on bass, neil
gouvin on drumsand paul size on guitar. ray is a great vocalist, and a
superb harp player-this guy can blow!!! his phrasing and timing is
impecable-and this band is super tight. i listened for about 3 hours, and
i only heard maybe one or two little glitches. ray is using a sonny jr
four-ten. i was able to speak to ray about the amp,and sonny. we both
know sonny is a great guy,and builds a great amp,but ray said sonny's
microphones make a big difference also. this combination is lethal. ray
is a great player, but sonnys equipment brings him up a cuople of
notches. rays new cd is titled"hands across the table", a must have for
any blues harp player to add to the collection. ray used the sonny jr
four-ten exclusivley in the studio-straight from ray himself.
