The one time I lost a bid on something I really wanted it was a dutch 
auction with 4 speakers.  I bid on all 4 but only got 3.  I got sniped 
in the waning moments of the auction.  I wrote the guy that won the 
other speaker to ask if he'd used a sniping program.  He wrote back that 
he'd just waited until the last moment and placed the bid manually.  It 
worked out ok anyhow because I really only need 3 speakers. fjm
