RE: [Harp-L] Piedmont Blues player Etta Baker (S.Doyle Yoder, Sr.)

I hear you; Jerry McCain is a favorite of mine, too.
If you're interested, two other great harp players of whom
I hear very little mentioned, are Little Mack Simmons and
Frank Frost. Check out their stuff; I think you'll enjoy it.

  S. Doyle Yoder writes: (snipped):

"While looking around on the Music Maker site, I came across several blues harmonica players, and thought that I would pass on the information. Jerry 'Boogie McCain' and Neal Pattman. You all may already know of these players but they are new to me, and I found their samples great to listen to.
Seeing as how I am relatively new to the harmonica world it was exciting to come across this site"

....Thanks! I'm new to the harmonica world too and love when people post sites like this. I save as many as I can. I listened to some of Mrs. Baker's cuts (lovely) and then Jerry McCain's and thoroughly enjoyed playing along with the three tracks available on his CD (yes, even "Viagra Man", lol). Now I'll probably purchase it. (Also a worthwhile site to donate to help these pioneers of blues music). So please -- keep up the good work!

  Elizabeth
