Hi Gorky and Jp,
  I understand from Tom Ellis, Butter played through an Altec mic and it's
used on the first LP.  In truth was an EV mic that Altec OEM'd from EV.  

>From the mid sixties on he only used his Shure 545.  As others have praised
here, the 545 is a really versatile mic with a great range of tone.
