Subject: [Harp-L] discovered amazing cd

don't you just love it when you stumble over a gem that you didn't know
existed? this may be old news to most of you, i dunno. but i just discovered
the sonny boy williamson album "keep it to ourselves". it's this sweet little gem
of a cd, all acoustic, just sonny boy and his harp. on some of the tracks there is
guitar, drums, or piano backing, but this is really about The Man, his voice, and
his harp. recorded in denmark in 1963, guests include matt murphy, memphis slim,
bill stepney.

the recording is great; sounds like he's sitting on your living room, or on your front
porch. quiet, spare, beautiful harp and vocals. amazing stuff.

the first vendor i tried said it was out of print. but amazon had one (although they're
now showing 4-6 weeks wait; maybe i got the last one), so i snagged it quick.
you could try at:

i am thrilled to have found this. always loved sonny boy, never suspected there
was acoustic material. it reminds me a lot of "memphis barebecue sessions",
except it's freakin' Sonny Boy Williamson blowin' harp. yow.

you know, in any sane society, this would be a National Treasure, not
an obscure out-of-print cd. yeesh.

Hi,
I have the orginal releases of this when it was out on the Storyville label on 2 seperate LP's back in the 60's, and this is an Alligator complilation of the two that was done in the early 90's. It's some of his best recorded playing ever, just a few years before he passed away.
