Re: [Harp-L] (no subject)

Richard,
I am self taught. I started playin in November of 71 when I was soon to be
22 in January of 72. I listened to Sonny Terry and worked on his licks. I
played every day working on single notes and chords. The summer of 72 I
drove for two days a week for a friend who lost his drivers license. It was
a ten hour day, he was selling advertisement for a news paper. Great
learning time! I always focused on TONE. I drove a few friends crazy playing
the same thing over and over and over again.
Just play every day and your learning will grow.Play every day, play every
day, play every day.
That's the key!!!!!!!!
Stay tuned!

> Can those of you who consider yourselves highly proficient in blues harp
(including professionals) please tell me if any of you were totally
self-taught? By that, I mean no live lessons or seminars and no blues
harp-playing friends or acquaintances who helped you. If you fit into that
category, which of you were not proficient in playing another instrument
before you started playing harp? My questions do not arise from idle
curiosity. I just need to know if there is any hope that I can ever be
anything other than a hacker.
