RE: [Harp-L] Re: XB-40

One reason I don't like my low D XB40 is that it feels much "tighter" in holes 7 to 10 than lower down and try as I will I can't improve it much. I should also point out that the so-called "zero offset" reeds for some of the lower notes were anything but zero offset - they were gapped like the other reeds. When I adjusted this the reed response improved no end. Definitely worth checking if your harp doesn't respond as it should. I have a buzzing valve hassle on one reed too. It's a bit of a piggie really.

So the list consensus seems to be that nobody (but me) likes the XB-40. I wonder how long Hohner
will continue to make them if the list is any indication of the general buying public?

Steve mentioned that he owns a Low D and a G, but only plays the G. I bought a low Eb which had
erratic low end draw bends. You couldn't make the same low end draw bends as on a regular low Eb
harp. Pat Missin tried to fix it without much success. I'm wondering whether anyone else has
had similar issues with low XBs?
