[Harp-L] Harp = Harp physically in looks ¿ Why ?

So many heavy duty responses and wow , it looked like war broke out in here , but - - -


Just look at the reed assembly on any harmonica , what do you see ?


A cascading array of reeds that go from long reed to a short reed , to me it was always obvious why the little harmonica is called a harp .

To clarify IMHO :

A stringed harp's assembly is physically arranged in the same manner of cascading sound producing strings , and the assembly looks like a harmonica's reed assembly only on a stringed harp a larger scale .

To myself I always wondered why the obvious is not seen by others , but that's just me :) The term mouth harp is what triggered my personal findings in the first place as I asked the very same question to myself when reading statements or hearing spoken words from a seasoned harp man , and then saw the answer almost simultaneously way back in the late 50's in my mind's eye as I pondered through this question as a kid :)

I first ignored this thread but , when I saw other seasoned wood players ( or seasoned plastic combers ) , I said hmmmmm , this thread is not as superfluous as I thought . So I waited to see if any one else saw this obvious correlation .  

So's - - - after then seeing the numerous and passionate parade of posts and not seeing anyone else postulating this observation publicly , I knew it was my turn to chime in .

¡ So riiiiiiing mmmmmmmmmy chimes - - - WHEW !
