Had a nice visit with Harmonica Red of Big Al and the Heavyweights Saturday 
night when they made an unexpected visit to our town.   
   Red, for those of you who don't know, is a harp veteran who can play any 
style. Their group is doing some covers now, after doing almost all originals 
most of the time. Big Al, the drummer, has retired his sticks after some deaths 
in the family and years on the road.
   Anyway, this is the band in which Jason Ricci played for a while before 
going out on his own. I have been plugging them for an appearance at   Buckeye 
in the past. Hot guitar player and Red is worth seeing.
   Maybe SPAH might be interested in Red? He mentioned that he has been 
playing 32 years and never been invited to SPAH. I suspect he would consider that a 
big honor. He's a friendly guy and loves to talk harp.
