While I have never tried this (which should probably translate into
"don't bother reading the rest of this message), nor have I used an
inside-the-hand type mic (more danger!), what if you used one of those
"inside-the-hand" mics, but put it on the outside?  I believe they are
directional in that there is a ring with the mic attached and the mic
points to one side of the ring.  So, if you put it on the outside of your
hand pointing down or away from your head, it might catch the sound OK.
Might be a problem with catching your hand noise...?

Well, when you try the mic, try it on the inside and outside and then
you will know!
