RE: [Harp-L] Behringer UB802 - any opinions?

Hi G,

I have the UB802 and I use it for my home recording. I'm very happy with
it, but maybe, not beeing a professional, I don't catch the nuances that
a real good piece of equipment would give me, especially on mic preamps.
Anyway, for my purposes, this was a very good deal, especially considering
its tag price.
I use it:
- for home acoustic instruments recording, with a Behringer B2 double large
diaphragm condenser mic.
- for home "silent" Chicago harp recording, with a bullet mic passing through
a Harp Commander
- For home electric guitar recording, with a SM57 in front of my guitar
amp
- as an extra mixer for gigs, where I put drums' mics in it, and from it
I go with one or two channels to the main PA.

For home recording, I connect its main output to the line input of my Creative
Audigy, and with a few volume adjustments you can have the right input levels
for almost anything.
Oh, yes, and I've used a couple of times, too, as a portable recording system,
having it connected to the line in plugs of my laptop. But for that kind
of use, you should try to have the fastest and most unfragmented hard disk
you can get. Usually laptops are non that good on that side. I've never
used its effect loop, so I can't tell you how much transparent to the sound
the loop is. I just wish it had an on/off switch, and not having to unplug
the power chord anytime I switch it off...
