[Harp-L] chiming in

Hey everyone. I just got back home yesterday after leaving for the road
on Oct. 26th. I met so many cool Harp l'ers old and new and hopefully
recruited a few more. Additionally I met a whole mess of Jon Gindick Jam
Campers too. Some Highlights from the road in the positive department
include: Biscuits and Blues (San Fran) Larry and Gary and one of David
Barrett student who's name I forgot he gave me Dave's newest CD (Thank you),
Lincoln's Road House was great, it was Shawn Starsky's favorite gig of the
whole tour, thank you Mojo Red (Thanks for the review), Paul Davies (see you
at SPAH), everyone I forgot there, the Mile High Harmonica Club, Blues On
the Grand (Iowa), Garry Hodgenson great seeing you, your brother and Chuck
the harp l'er up in NJ ( great seeing you all) too bad no Dennis Gruenling
or Gina Fox sightings, Thanks also to all the tapers everywhere (Thank you
for everything!!!!), JP sitting in at Coa Coa Beach rocking, The Newly
formed and wicked good Harp club in Tampa the Clinic was great Michael
Peloquin was amazing at the clinic he's so fun to teach with and he played
ridiculously good both nights with my band in Tampa both on Sax and Harp and
in San Fran as well check out his happy B-day clip posted earlier on this
site.... HYPERLINK "http://www.harpgear.com/"http://www.harpgear.com/ I'm
hating being sandwiched in between MP and Dennis on that site... I so half
assed my little sound bite that day I wish I had known those two would have
been before and after me and so on their game too.....bastards! Oh and
thanks Brian for the tattoos at your shop tell Dan I said Thanks again, they
rock and everyone thinks the old one( Lizard )is a new one! Your new little
amps rock very hard Very nice work let me redo my clip next time....Oh
special thanks to Elizabeth our harp L Princess and foreign French affairs
ambassador for being the sweetest thing after fresh squeezed Cuban mango
juice...glad we got your medicine back to you. So I know I'm forgetting some
more positive harp related stuff but here's the bad part of the tour....

My buddy Guitar vocal Demon: Damon Fowler was in a wicked bad van
accident but luckily will still play again soon we hope...he's really messed
up we got to visit him in the hospital in Tampa and his spirits seem high
despite the fact he'll never really be the same again. New blood itself was
involved in Three, yes!!! Three!!!, different auto related accidents on this
tour, one: rear ending by us to a car in SF while I was scanning the
district for clothing stores (Everyone Ok), One Tire flying off a Semi, Rim
and all and hitting the front of van at 80 mph causing serious body damage
and scaring the hell out of all of us, and one In Long Island which was so
messed up I can't even talk about it. The whole incident was so wiered,
crazy, violent, surreal and generally Tarrintinoesque that to speak of the
accident here could bring legal action against us or some one.... ask at a
show. Reno Nevada brought a strange occurrence with it as well when a fan
sporting a Hubert Sumlin T-shirt extended his hand for a shake during a
routine set break Cd signing type of situation....As I shook his hand
something impaled me deeply, suddenly and easily....I pulled my hand away to
find my middle finger Gushing dark red blood! In the fans hand was a medical
Scalpel...not an exacto knife or a razor but a real scalpel!!!! How do you
like that...so weird...so I'm like: "what the f*^$k" he's says: "Oh my god
I'm so sorry I use these to open Cds".... I can't believe I didn't yell at
him but I kept cool and because the wound was so well cut by such a fine
instrument (It was a Filisko custom Scalpel) it closed up pretty quick and
healed nicely within the week. So that same night like five hours later i'm
sitting at a diner in a casino like two blocks away from the club when this
guy jumps over the divider between the casino and the diner and starts
pushing into the booth I'm sitting at real forcefully by sliding his butt in
the seat and using his hands to push me over.... So I'm like: "Yo...Hey!!! I
don't know you!!! get The F&^%k out! etc..." He won't stop but starts
pushing harder till finally Casino security comes over. Then he gets up
after not saying a word the whole time throws a map in my face and saqys
here's your directions to the your next show a*s-Hole. So my band just looks
at me like I'm the worst guy ever (They acted just as suprised before the
map hit my face) They're all: "Yo Jason that was one of our fans!" So he
leaves and tells me how he's never coming back to a show and that I better
keep my guitar player etc....Messed up.
Note to all fans: if you approach me hours, days, weeks, years or genearlly
outside of a music venue/arena please introduce yourself before you
compliment me, dis me, touch me, yell at me, cut me or threaten to shoot me
it's hard for me to remember all your faces.
also I spent most of the tour recovering from a flu that I had gotten in
San Diego at Jon' G's Camp man try playing on no sleep every night for a
month at high altitudes all over Cali, AZ, and Co with the flu. It
sucks..Then in Fl I sprayed this cleaning stuff in my pedals....IT FROZE AND
BROKE the plastic connectors in all my Boss pedals! Don't spray that
stuff...The Sound man Ernie (Bamboo Room) saved the day by saudeing all new
connectors before the show. We lost an alternator somewhere between TN and
Ga in the middle of the night and went through four new tire finally found a
new Bass Player Buck Weed all of you who saw him know what's up hear him
live at archive.org . So there was lots of other messed up stuff that
happened to much to list really just nuts....I'm positive David Lynch has
hidden a microscopic camera somewhere in my body and is constantly in the
process of reviewing and monitoring my life for new materials for his
movies.

Over all the tour went great we had an awsome time and are looking forward
to seeing more of you guys in Jan.

Thanks Harp L for everything good to be back home and on the list again.
Looking forward to Chris Michalek posts etc.
Love always. Your fan
Jason Ricci
