When I think of Chicago Blues I think of Sonny Boy. I heard Portnoy does "Don't
Start Me Talking" live. He nailed the sound. Butterfield did a couple of riffs
on his training CD. Sounded right on.

Do we want our own individual sound? Yes. Do you want a gold standard to compare
it to? Yes. Can you learn a ton from copying Sonny's tone and his beautiful
economy of notes? You bet. If you play Chicago blues it's very hard not to show
some Sonny Boy influence.
