to get a real good taste of Sonny Boy, get the record "Keep It To Ourselves." Sonny Boy w/Matt Murphy & Memphis Slim in various combinations, with a few Sonny Boy solo. pretty loose and beautiful. It's a real work of art. imo.

i'd like to second this recommendation. in fact, i'd third it and fourth it if i could. this recording is a real treasure. i'd never heard sonny boy play acoustic until i stumbled across this last year. it's a very laid back, fun recording. sounds like he's sitting in your kitchen, hangin' with his friends and playing harp.

priceless.

ps. deepdiscountcd.com has it for $14.97, a steal.

i think it was on "Quiet Village" - " You can call it yo' mamma if you wanna! Ya gotta get it while its hot, or it aint worth a damn." probably to producer Phill Chess. SBW should be in the philosophy books.

Ummmm.... hate to nitpick, but that title is actually "Little Village." ("Quiet Village" is a 1959 Martin Denny orchestral composition -- Exotica/Bachelor Pad music and interesting in it's own right.)

Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, Nick Lowe & Jim Keltner named their early-'90s band "Little Village" after the Sonny Boy number.
