[Harp-L] Mackie SRM-350

Hello All!

I have owned a Sonny Jr. ll (6x8) and LOVE it. I have had ZERO technical problems, other than a few blown fuses. For smaller stages and for vocals, I recently got a pair of Mackie SRM-350 powered PA speakers ... they are great AND ... they have a neat 1/4 input that you can plug a bullet mic right into and it sounds good! These can daisy-chain and are a hell of a lot lighter than my Sonny. I recommend them as a (somewhat) cheaper alternative to the BOSE PAS. They are around $550.00 per speaker and as I get older, and my back gets weaker; I reach for them (or one of 'em) instead of my Sonny Jr. more and more! My Oahu sounds sweet, but not as rugged, portable or adaptible as the Mackies. These are essentially a smaller version of the Mackie SRM-450 speakers, but lighter, cheaper and with the aforementioned 1/4 direct input. I'd be curious to hear from other list members about their experiences with these little monsters and their favorite set-ups through them! I
typically use a Bellari tube pre-amp into an IBANEZ DE-7, into a Behringer sub-mixing board and then left and right out to the speakers. Alternatively, I'll use the Bellari / Ibanez into ONE speaker, then it's XLR out to the board. By adding another speaker, I get a great stage monitor and turn one towards the audience. These things make GREAT stage monitors, if you have a larger PA, but are more than sufficient for small clubs as the mains.

Peace, Love and TONE! - Dr. Dragonfly
