There are many levels that a city can excel musicaly.
For classical music it's one of the best in the world for
listening and studying.

The city also has great jazz tradition with likes of
Pat Martino and JImmy Bruno. There are also lots of
great schools and private teachers to study from.
One night went to see jimmy play and who is
sitting at the bar- Pat Martino

For gigs it's not so great.I haven't played within the city limits 
in years. Most of the clubs have from 3 to 5 bands in one night.
There is one blues club called Warrmdady's.
