[Harp-L] THE best way to learn...period!

We've all had one on one lessons, nothing like 'em!

Jam Camps...Terrific!

Masterclasses.....Awesome!

Harmonica Conventions.....Totally Important!

Harp-L......another piece of the puzzle!

but IMO, THE best way to learn & have fun...., get together on a regular (once a week) basis in YOUR town, area with your Harmonica peers......sit aound in a circle talk a bit and then put on some "Jam Tracks" of whatever style it is that your into.......

This is still going on, year after year in NY at the great Charlie Leighton's apt. in NYC. Every TUES, the players show up around 3pm......talk a few minutes then....the tracks come on! talking stops, YOU play your chorus when it's YOUR turn. while listening to others, though your not talking, you hear alot of "sounds great man" "Beautiful" ""ni.....ce!"

This goes on for about 3 hrs, some more smalltalk we say our goodbyes.....until next week.

I must admit, I haven't been able to make many Tuesdays, but after leaving there yesterday, I realized how much I "don't" know about this instrument.....but never an ounce of bragging, or dissing or discouragement by any of these great players......just play your best chorus and listen to the next one, you can learn VOLUMES.

I encourage y'all to start one of these in YOUR town, you won't be disappointed.

BTW, Charlie looked and sounded great yesterday and is the NICEST most talented harp players I know..

best,
rob
