This is pretty straight for Metheny, that's because it's not Metheny. Took me a while to wake up to the fact that there was no guitar on there.


The more I listened, the more I like the music, but the harmonica playing does not stand out. Don't think Grégoire was too inspired in some places. I think you have to be in a weird mode to play over that kind of stuff and make it fit. I'm not sure Maret is that kind of player. Still he wasn't bad but perhaps a bit too conventional.

I'm not a huge fan of Metheny but there wer some cool poly rhythms.
ie 6/8 over 4/4.


As far as Gregoire Maret is concerned, I his playing on that album lacked personality. But the french has said the same about me so what do I know ;-p
