Re: [Harp-L] Re : Born in Chicago (XB-Melody)

Hello jazzmaan :

Outstanding ...

* Is there an echo in here?...OUTSTANDING... OUTstanding...Outstanding... outstanding...outst.......

. the possibilities on the XB seems only limited too the imagination and talent of the individual . I have played them all save this new XB design , as I hear more and more of it via this and similar forums , I can't help but realize I will end up with one soon .

* Hear hear

I was impressed with the Born In Chicago piece , no doubt you MADE your point clearly ,

* I DID notice that it was felt (by some) that the party man didn't "sound" like Butter....... Well, it should come as no great shock as the Jazzman was playing at home and wasn't in a position to pick up the roar of the greasepaint, the smell of the crowd NOR the verve of playing in a live setting. I felt the background was so even and smooth, that it HAD to be "canned". Man, you can't GET that from a live guit player. I grew up in the time of Butter and never paid that much attention to him. I always thought his playing was forced. I felt (MY opinion) that Jazzman was more to my liking.

but , the Jazz piece , that was just plane heart attack intense stuff bebbbeee ! Your son did a great job on accompanying you on it you are a lucky man to have him in your stable .

* Sneak that 'I' am, I listened to BOTH cuts and found "I'm in the Mood" to be the more delicious piece of work AND while no one should take me seriously (which means..don't take my advice), but I feel Jazzman should forget about Butter and the rest of the dead guys and concentrate on Jazz. THAT's where he belongs. That piece proved it. :)
I have said it many times before and I'll say it again, there are guys TODAY who are just plain "animals" on these harps. I have had music stations on my cable for many many years, have heard a lot of stuff in that time and deaf I'm NOT. These cuts (authentic or NOT) were one mighty fine piece of work.

My home base is a fertile place for gigging if you can play standards & Jazz em , this is what I cut my teeth on with the traditional diatonic since the early 70's along with Country Western , Rock & the occational Blues gig(s) .

De XB looksa like ah mah kinda ah harp , ah wills moe dan lahklee seeya mahselva intah gatting ah one ah soonna .

Thanks jazzmaan for your taking time to let us in on what your up too Brother Blower :)

Killer man just killer stuff . Lay some moe of dat stuff on us soon cuzz its whasss happnin :)

*And now it's confession time: When I read the original post (a query into why there were no responses), I knew that I shouldn't answer because I am NOT an authority. But I felt that IF I answered, someone who WAS would join in. I suppose my big mouth (fingers) started something.
