I have this book, it's wonderful.  I also have a recording of a 
seminar Steve did at SPAH in about 1998, which is equally great, in 
which he talks about the differences between playing over blues 
changes and playing over rock and roll changes (among other 
things).  His ability to articulate what we hear, such as the subtle 
variations in the chord patterns that dominate these musical styles, 
is impressive.
