That "jaw flick" that Brendan Power first put me on to is also an invaluable technique for getting ornamentation into the playing of Irish tunes. I read somewhere that he picked it up from the Murphys of Wexford. I find it much more reliable than shaking the head or the harp (though I don't always practise what I preach - yet!)
